Different Types of Motorcycle Jackets
There are a few different types of motorcycle jackets. First you have the traditional leather motorcycle jackets, then you have racing jackets, and finally you have light-weight wind breaker jackets. So what jacket is better for which condition? I will go over the different types and styles of motorcycle jackets in the next few minutes to help you decide which jacket is right for you.
Traditional Leather
Traditional leather motorcycle jackets have been around as long as motorcycles have. Originally thought to keep you warm and dry, leather has proven to be one of the most protective coverings a motorcyclist can wear. With its tough rugged look and soft supple feel, leather has made its mark in the motorcycle community. For ages bikers have took comfort in knowing that if they had a motorcycle accident, they would at least save a little skin. Now with new technologies, and the grade of leather ever increasing leather is becoming more and more popular. And with new Kevlar armor packages available you can feel safe all the time.
Racing Jackets
The next generations in motorcycle jackets are Nylon/Leather mixed jackets. Most of these jackets are made with light-weight in mind, but are meant to protect the wearer. This type of jackets is made of nylon but has leather padding and or insert in the sleeves and or back of the jacket for added protection. These jackets are more commonly worn by bikers that have a racing style bike, but are also worn by conventional bikers as well. With light-weight being the key ingredient and leather being the protective barrier, no wonder why these jackets are becoming one of the most popular jackets for the young at heart.
Wind Breaker/Water Resistant
Wind Breaker and Water Resistant type jackets are excellent for all types of bikers looking to stay cool and dry. These jackets are usually easily rolled/folded up and stored away on you bike until you need them. This type of jacket however doesn’t offer much safety but they are better then wearing nothing also they come in a variety of styles and colors. These jackets are perfect for almost all weather conditions. When it’s hot outside they make for a nice lightweight covering, and most have a removable inside liner for extra comfort, and also many styles have air-flow vents. Light-weight together combined with water resistance makes for a perfect combination for any motorcycle rider.
